We’re looking for a Game Designer (Systems & Features) to work with our beloved Star Stable Online. Join our talented, multidisciplinary team to conceptualize and implement memorable experiences for our players in the magical world of Jorvik. It’s a small team of a bunch of problem solvers and we're driven by our strong team spirit to co-create new fantastic content. You will be a tremendous addition to our team culture and we believe that you, just like us, see new opportunities in everything that you do.

As a Game Designer at Star Stable Entertainment

  • You’re experienced in analyzing player behavior in an adventure-focused MMO and designing with player motivations in mind.
  • You’re responsible for forming gameplay hypothesis and presenting design solutions in a shape which are realistic to the available technology and resonates with players and the team.
  • You walk the talk together with your team, not simply checking a task as done but checking in often and collecting 360 feedback and iterating on the designs together.
  • You work with Technical Designers to build rapid prototypes* for mechanics, story, gameplay or systems, testing the feasibility of the design and ensuring we as a team validate our gameplay hypothesis.
  • You implement basic scripting for your designs to shipping quality.
  • You stay familiar with business goals and actively set development goals for yourself in line with these, and you take a leading role in evolving the craft together with the team and the stakeholders.
  • You actively mentor and enable team members.

* Rapid prototype is a term that describes any quick and dirty approach to showcasing a design, either in throwaway code in software or through other tools such as for example Adobe XD

To thrive in this role, we believe that ...

  • You understand what it means to work on a live product and will find ways to improve the game incrementally with careful brush strokes.
  • You play live service mobile or pc games, social games and games for a non-gamer audience, and games with sandboxes.
  • You have experience designing game loops, progression, and mechanics for a multiplayer game, and you have a positive, self-driven mindset.
  • You’re user-focused, curious, and solutions-oriented.
  • You have the ability to clearly articulate your thoughts and get buy-in from stakeholders and other team members.
  • You are used to rallying cross-functional teams and being responsible for the gameplay quality of the features that are delivered.
  • You’re experienced in coaching or mentoring team members on topics like peer-reviewing, user testing, creative processes, and facilitation.
